Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage Plans: Sometimes called Medicare Part C or MA Plans, these are offered by private companies, approved by Medicare and offer all Medicare services. When enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you receive Medicare Parts A and B from the Medicare Advantage plan. Many plans also offer additional coverage for things like vision, hearing and dental services.

Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement policies, frequently called “Medigap” policies, are sold by private insurance companies and can help pay some of the costs not covered by Original Medicare, like co-payments, coinsurance and deductibles. When you combine Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement plan, Medicare pays its share of the Medicare-approved amount for covered health care costs, and your Medigap policy pays its share.

Prescription Drug Plans

Medicare prescription drug coverage is an optional benefit offered to everyone who has Medicare. Medicare recipients benefit from having prescription drug plans, which often lower the cost of prescription medications. Plans can be purchased as stand-alone coverage or as part of a medicare advantage plan.
